Two-Point Perspective: Boxes

image

2 point perspective has 2 vanishing points located on the horizon.

It’s important to understand than each vanishing point is directional (i.e. they are not locations).
For example, if the left vanishing point (LVP) is pointing east, the right vanishing point (RVP) would point south (or north). This makes sense since 2 point perspective is made from 90 degree angles (and not flat, 180 degree angles – as in 1 point perspective).

Other points to bear in mind…

As with all perspective drawings, all parallel lines recede to the same vanishing point.

A vertical line will occur wherever receding lines intersect.

I’m trying to develop my technical art skills. My recent focus has been on perspective studies.

I obviously have a long way to go! There are a couple of ‘oopsie’ lines I botched up in the above drawing. Can you point them out?

This study was directed by Jason Cheeseman-Meyer’s book Vanishing Point.
