Painting the striking Waratah (Telopea) today. It’s the state flower of New South Wales, Australia and symbolises survival, courage, and resisilience during times of crisis and despair. Perhaps it’s fitting that I found it to be verrrry challenging to paint (hah)!

This flower reminds me of the varying low points I experienced throughout my twenties. It was a time I struggled with love, my identity, and independence as I lived in Australia, isolated from my family and core home network. It reminds me to hold strong to my values, and also reminds me of how difficult times somehow evolve to become the most vibrant memories.
