This is a torso sketch that I made through Art Academy for 3DS. To compose this…I first sketched three gestural lines (one vertical one for the spine, one horizontal line for the shoulder line and one horizontal line for the pelvis). Next, I blocked in 3 major shapes for the upper torso, abdomen and pelvis. Then, I refined the outline of the torso. Next, I sketched core shadows with a fat 2B. Then, I hatched mid tones with a sharp HB. Rough highlights were added next with fat, white chalk. Finally, the transition between highlights and mid-tones was refined by cross-hatching with a sharp white pencil. The reference sculpture used was the famous Venus De Milo.<\/p>\n
