Illustration: East Van Views

This morning I plopped down on our living room floor in my robe, stared out the window and painted this.

One thing I love about Vancouver is how different our mountains look depending on the weather. Today’s a crisp, cloudless blue sky kinda day. You can make out some of the subtle yellowish ridges on the mountainside when the sky is clear like this.

This will be part of a series I’ve been meaning to paint for a while now. I’ll re-paint this view in different weather to show the different faces of our local mountain ranges!

(FYI…I’m not trying to be cool or statemental by sitting on our floor to paint…we’re still waiting for our couch to be delivered from West Elm. Trust me, if I could avoid numb butt here, I would).
